When we head on vacation, we let all worries fall away for a bit.  The beach here is beautiful and looks so inviting, the breeze is so soothing that sometimes we forget what the heat, humidity, and the sun will do to us and all we hold dear.

So… How to beat the heat?

Hydration and Nutrition: 🚰

  • Drink consistently, plenty of water or sports drinks.
  • Don’t wait until you’re thirsty.
  • Avoid dehydrating fluids, like alcohol, high-sugar drinks, and excess caffeine.
  • Eat Light, easy do digest foods like fruit and salad

Sun Management: ☀️

  • Schedule out your day, strenuous outdoor activities or workouts would be better in the early morning or evening.
  • Visit places that have indoor seating and or public areas.
  • Use portable fans when possible, they do not lower body temperature so if you are feeling overheated make sure to go into a cool place.  Take cool baths or showers to help stay cool.
  • USE SUNSCREEN Use SPF 30+ at least 30 minutes before going out to prevent sunburn.

  • Time your day out.  Schedule strenuous tasks and outdoor workouts in the early morning or evenings.
  • Wear loose-fitting lightweight and light colored clothing.

  • Parked vehicles reach deadly temperatures within minutes.
  • Never leave pets or people in the car. Look before you lock.
  • Get a sunshade for the windshield.  Park in shade or covered parking if possible.
  • Check on others regularly!
