Labor Day Weekend on the Emerald Coast: Things to Do in Destin, Miramar Beach & 30A
Labor Day Weekend may mark the “unofficial” end of summer, but here along Florida’s Emerald Coast, there’s still plenty of sunshine, warm Gulf water, white-sand beaches, and fun waiting to be had.
In fact, Labor Day Weekend in Destin, Miramar Beach, and 30A is a wonderful time to squeeze in one more beachfront getaway before fall. From art and live music to fireworks, rooftop cocktails, boating, and relaxing days on the beach, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the long weekend.
If you’re spending Labor Day Weekend on the Emerald Coast, here are a few of our favorite things to do.
🎨 Visit the Perfect Hues: Baytowne Wharf Art Fest
One of the signature Labor Day Weekend events in Miramar Beach is Perfect Hues: Baytowne Wharf Art Fest at The Village of Baytowne Wharf.
The festival takes place Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6, from 5 PM to 9 PM nightly, and admission is free.
Visitors can stroll through the Village while browsing artwork from local and regional artists, with live music filling the Events Plaza from 7 PM to 9 PM each evening.
This year’s music lineup includes Jared Herzog on Friday, Stormfolk on Saturday, and The Salty Strays on Sunday.
The Labor Day Weekend celebration wraps up with a fireworks show over the Baytowne Lagoon at 9 PM Sunday night.
With restaurants, shops, entertainment, and beautiful views of Choctawhatchee Bay all within walking distance, Perfect Hues is an easy Labor Day outing for couples and families staying in Miramar Beach, Destin, or Sandestin.

🍹 Watch the Sunset at Hotel Effie’s Rooftop Bar
Looking for something to do after a day on the beach?
For an evening with a view, head to Hotel Effie Sandestin and make your way upstairs to Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge.
Ara combines rooftop views with handcrafted cocktails, food, music, and a relaxed resort atmosphere. It’s a beautiful spot to enjoy golden hour and watch the sun begin to set over the Sandestin and Miramar Beach area.
Labor Day Weekend brings Summer’s Last Splash at Ara Rooftop Pool & Lounge. On Friday, September 4, a live DJ is scheduled from 5 PM to 9 PM. Saturday features DJ sets from noon to 4 PM and again from 5 PM to 9 PM.
On Sunday evening, guests can enjoy views of Baytowne Wharf’s Labor Day fireworks at 9 PM from the rooftop.
It’s a fun option for an adults’ night out after a day spent on the white-sand beaches of the Emerald Coast.

🐬 Get Out on the Water in Destin
No Destin Labor Day Weekend is complete without spending some time on the water.
Book a dolphin cruise, rent a pontoon boat, try paddleboarding, go parasailing, or spend the day exploring Choctawhatchee Bay and the waters around Destin.
Destin’s famous emerald-green water makes simply being out on the water part of the experience.
Families visiting Destin for Labor Day Weekend may especially enjoy a Destin dolphin cruise, while groups looking for a full day on the water can rent a pontoon and explore the bay.
However you choose to do it, getting off the beach and onto the water is one of our favorite ways to make a few more summer memories before heading into the fall routine.
🚲 Spend the Day Exploring Scenic Highway 30A
If you’re staying in South Walton or 30A for Labor Day Weekend, set aside some time to explore the beach communities along Scenic Highway 30A.
Cruise along 30A, rent bikes, stop for lunch, grab an ice cream, browse local shops, or simply enjoy discovering the personality of each beach community.
From Blue Mountain Beach and Grayton Beach to Seaside, WaterColor, and Rosemary Beach, there’s always somewhere new to explore.
One of the best parts about visiting 30A is that you don’t necessarily need a big itinerary. Pick a community, park the car, and spend a few hours walking, biking, eating, shopping, and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere that makes South Walton so special.
There are also plenty of special events happening throughout South Walton over Labor Day Weekend. You can check the South Walton Events Calendar for concerts, farmers markets, live music, and other events happening during your stay:
